Bailey Sweeny joins HMO Customer Racing for 2022 TCR Australia Series
Bailey Sweeny has confirmed he will join HMO Customer Racing for the 2022 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series.
Sweeny, 18, will drive the team’s brand-new i30 N TCR alongside regular drivers Nathan Morcom and Josh Buchan, bolstering the former champion team’s fleet to three full-time cars for the first time.
A member of the Erebus Academy for junior drivers, Sweeny steps up from the Toyota Gazoo 86 Series where he finished fifth in the final round of the 2021 series at Mount Panorama.
Sweeny tested for the first time at Wakefield Park recently, with Morcom and team principal Rob Benson on hand to oversee his TCR track debut.
The Hyundai team is aiming to conduct a full three-car test ahead of the opening round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at Symmons Plains Raceway – part of the second-running of Race Tasmania on February 11-13.

“Bailey is a young kid, level headed and was really quite quick in his test. He is going to be a great addition to our team,” said Morcom.
“He ticked all the boxes that we wanted from him and I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses through the year.
“He proved that he was very competitive in the Toyota 86 Series. Any one-make series is tough to stand out, but he proved fast there and I’m confident that his pace will be shown in TCR too. We saw on the evaluation day that he has potential, and being young, he fits the profile of driver that we are looking for.
“It’s also great to have three cars full-time for this year. We know our cars have the potential to win, so having three means we can put all focus ahead for the season.”
