GT World Challenge Australia Facebook to livestream European finale

Barcelona hosts the final round for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, which  will be livestreamed through the GT World Challenge Australian Facebook page.

It is a four-way battle for the Endurance Cup in Barcelona, with Ferrari team and 24 Hours of Spa winners Iron Lynx holding a 13-point advantage. Alessandro Pier Guidi, Come Ledogar, Nicklas Nielsen will be backed up by a sister entry as Ferrari target back-to-back titles.

Perennial frontrunners Team WRT is placed second in the points via Dries Vanthoor, Charles Weerts and Robin Frijns, however it is the sole Pro Class entry for the squad, however Audi has safety in numbers through two Santeloc R8 LMS GT3s including the series debut for the Evo II specification.

Ferrari’s Italian rival Lamborghini through Orange1 FFF Racing is placed just 17-points from the top as its driver line-up is an enviable trio consisting of former champions Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli.

The fourth contender is the AKKA ASP combination of Raffaele Marciello and Jules Gounon, who are 23-points in arrears in the lead Mercedes after a technical setback at Spa. The pair are joined by Dani Juncadella for the finale.

Australian Matt Campbell will round out his GT World Challenge Europe campaign in the GPX Racing Porsche alongside Earl Bamber and Mathieu Jaminet.

Pro-Am and Silver Cup bragging rights are up for grabs, as West Australian Jordan Love will conclude his maiden GT campaign in what is a 47-car entry.

The Santeloc-run Audi R8 GT3 LMS Evo II will not be the sole 2022-specification entry in the field as after competing in numerous rounds of the Nurburgring NLS endurance series, BMW’s M4 GT3 will make its GT World Challenge Europe debut.
