Qualifying key in tense title fight
Young gun Nathan Herne has highlighted qualifying as a major focus for the concluding rounds of the National Trans Am Series as he aims to turn the tables on title contender Aaron Seton.
Just four-points separate the pair heading into what will be a tense fight as not only will Seton be a concern, but the fast improvement of rivals Nash Morris, Owen Kelly, Ben Grice, Kyle Gurton and others could have impact the series battle.

“In a series so competitive with particularly Owen Kelly and Aaron, we need to have that knowledge bank behind us and for us we’re doing the same three changes, which isn’t working for us this year unlike last year,” he explained.
“We’ve got the car there, we’ve definitely quick enough, but I’ve never been faster than Aaron in a qualifying session, so I want that pole position.
“Sydney was a big turning point where I got smoked by 1.8s and I was just walking around with head shrugged a little bit low then, with the tail between my legs.
“However, I’m full of confidence now, we’ve worked hard at this and I think we’ve got some good ideas.”
Herne took his Dream Racing Australia Valvoline Dodge Challenger to a win at Bathurst, which is where the title will be decided on November 30-December 5.
