Seton victorious in shortened Trans Am Race 1

Aaron Seton won a safety car shortened opening National Trans Am Series race of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour weekend.

Seton led home the field under yellow after holding sway from lights out and fending off a charge from the pack up Mountain Straight on the opening lap.

Nathan Herne came across the line in second position having held off Owen Kelly who completed the podium.

Two separate incidents necessitated a safety car around the halfway mark when Kyle Gurton stopped on approach to The Cutting.

Meanwhile, Matthew MacKelden found the fence at Griffins Bend, with both cars needing recovery.

Race control deployed the safety car but the race was unable to restart and finished under safety car, with Seton taking the chequered flag first.

While Herne and Kelly were the podium, fourth place went the way of Tim Brook ahead of Edan Thornburrow in fifth.

Nash Morris, Andrew Fisher, Dylan Thomas, Aaron Tebb, and Ben Grice completed the top 10.

Race 2 for the Trans Am field takes place at 11:50 local time.
