Seton to start from Trans Am pole at Bathurst

Aaron Seton will start the opening National Trans Am Series race from pole position at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

Seton was declared the first-place spot on the grid for Race 1 after an incident effectively made the Friday afternoon qualifying session irrelevant.

Tim Brook had an incident in the third sector and needed recovering, with the scheduled 15-minute session unable to resume after just three flying laps.

Officials deemed qualifying a non-event, with the grid for Race 1 decided by the combined Practice 1 and Practice 2 times.

The pole position is no surprise to Seton who is in flying form and was at the top of the timesheets anyway when qualifying was red-flagged.

Nathan Herne will also start from the front row of the grid in second position while Owen Kelly was third.

Brook has been given the fourth-place starting slot ahead of Ben Grice who completes the top five.

Edan Thornburrow is sixth followed by Kyle Gurton, Dylan Thomas, Matthew MacKelden, and Nash Morris in 10th.

Race 1 for the Trans Am field takes place on Saturday 10:00 local time.
