Robotham scores Gulf Western Oil pole in fraught qualifying session
Jaylyn Robotham has taken his first-ever pole position in a Supercar at Mount Panorama today, securing the top spot for this afternoon’s second and final Super3 race of the weekend.
Robotham scored a time of 2:10.8620 to secure the $500 prize from Gul Western Oil, and be over one second faster than his nearest rival, Jon McCorkindale.
It was a difficult session for the Super2 and Super3 competitors, with three separate incidents bringing out red flags.
One of those incidents was for Super3 contender Declan Fraser, who found the wall at Griffins Bend. That red flag incident came with three minutes of the session remaining, and officials immediately decided to end the session.
Starting third in Super3 will be Jim Pollicina ahead of Mark Tracey, Jason Foley, David Murphy and Layton Barker.
The race will start at 4pm local time.
