Super3 confirmed for Bathurst 1000 support races

It has been confirmed that the Super3 Series will contest Round 2 of its 2020 season at the famous Mount Panorama circuit, supporting the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

After deliberations at Supercars over whether the lower-level Supercars classes would run, it was confirmed today that the category would venture to the mountain.

Regulations and final grid numbers for the event are yet to be confirmed, however, V8 Touring Car/Super3 Series category manager Liam Curkpatrick confirmed that Round 2 will be a single round affair held over the popular Bathurst weekend.

“There has been some back and forward on the if and how the event would run, but we are pleased that Supercars management has made the call to hold the combined Super2 and Super3 races at Bathurst,” said Curkpatrick.

“These are very difficult times that we are facing, but the amount of support from our Super3 teams has been encouraging. Given the short notice, we are expecting a reduced, but competitive field.

“We felt that the combined Super2 and Super3 races at Sydney Motorsport Park worked really well, and we are looking forward to seeing both classes of car back out on track.”

All qualifying and race sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports.

The Bathurst 1000 event will be held on October 15-18.
