COX RETURNS FOR MORE BATHURST EXCITEMENT
JORDAN COX became a social media sensation at Bathurst last year. Driving a Honda Civic in the Improved Production support races at the 12 Hour, his audacious moves to pass other cars have been seen the world over.Cox returns to Mt Panorama this weekend to tackle a much longer race than on his previous visit – this time it is the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.Cox will be joined in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X RS by car owner Michael King and Jordan’s dad Graeme who is an experience Improved Production racer in his own right.The car was built by Team Mitsubishi Ralliart and finished third in last year’s race, driven by Jim Pollicina and Ryan Simpson and ranks as among the favoured marques to take out the race.”We are well prepared for this. Michael competed in various low-key events recently as we built up the team, and I came on board as a driver as well as in my dual role as a suspension specialist. My dad has since been added to the driver line-up and both he and Michael are eagerly looking to literally going the distance.”Between us we have already identified some minor areas we could improve on the car,” Jordan Cox said.He also related that they a good test earlier this month (March). “We had a later test to try a new set-up we have been working on, but the car had an electrical issue so we couldn’t validate what we changed,” Cox conceded.The crew for the Easter weekend includes some of the personnel that have been associated with the giant killing Improved Production Honda Civic with the likes of Scott Wiggins, Brad Metcalf and Motec specialist Phil Armour.The team from Dashsport will undertake the final preparation on the car and will be providing track support over the weekend.Support for the Bathurst 6 Hour challenge comes from Access Homes and Mainpoint Advisory. Cox’s own business, Cox Automotive in southern Sydney (Kirrawee) has been responsible for the chassis tuning and suspension work with assistance from Bilstein.”A big shout out to the team at Bilstein Sydney for providing so much support with shock absorber development during our build-up phase,” Cox added.”It’s been a huge effort from everyone involved to get the car ready the way we want. Particularly there have been some late nights from the boys at Dashsport prepping the car.”It’s come together nicely so now it’s time to go deliver some results!”Following practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday, the six-hour starts at 11:45am on Easter Sunday.
