HOLY SMOKE, BMW!

The covers are finally off team Holy Smoke Racing’s new BMW 1M Coupe Production Race Car.With just over a week to go until it’s debut race at the Bathurst 6hr, they have high hopes for success with this new package. Team Boss and owner Anthony Soole is excited, but also aware that with a new car comes a whole new world of potential issues.”We raced our BMW E46 M3 over the last couple of years, and had a great run in that car, but this 1M came up at the right price, and I really couldn’t say no.””We are now up in Class A1, which is at the front of the field, and is not only the fastest end of the field, but also the busiest, with over 22 cars in A1 Class battling for the win at the 6hr, we need to pace ourselves.”Although the M3 was a great package, we believe the 1M will be the car to beat, once we iron out the bugs.”With myself and Adam Burgess co driving, we really just want to get to the chequered flag for this race. It will feel like a win if we can do that.”After a successful test this week, Team Holy Smoke Racing are confident they have a package reliable enough to tackle a gruelling 6hrs at the Mountain.”People think that just because it’s a production based car, it should be an easy build, but with over 600 hours invested in our build, there’s nothing simple about it. It’s a purpose-built endurance car, and that means things have to be done right, or they will fail.””We started back in November, which is not the easiest time to start building a car as everyone shuts down over Christmas, so it’s been a bit of a mad rush over the last 4 weeks to get ready for the big race.Without the help from Ash at 4Play Racing Development’s, Cobb Tuning, Atlantic Oil’s and The Property Investment Store, we wouldn’t have been able to get the job done.”They have a busy year ahead as they prepare to run in the NSW Production Touring Cars Series, as well as the National Australian Production Cars Series.(Team Release)
