SHOCKWAVE RACING LOCKS IN SIX-HOUR PLANS

After enjoying their enduro debut as a team at the 2016 Australian Production Cars finale, the Shockwave Signs Motorsport crew is now preparing to tackle their first Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour. The April 14-16 event will double as the first round of the 2017 APC season. In facing the challenges of the Mountain with their Shockwave Signs Toyota 86, the debutant crew will benefit from the experience of its two drivers, Jimmy Vernon and Mark Caine, who each have experience at the lauded venue.Between them, they have one six hour and one 12 hour under their belts, with Vernon tackling the 2016 Bathurst 12 Hour and Caine racing last year’s inaugural Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour with Triple Zero Racing – taking out Class D in the process.”The 2017 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will be the first time that Shockwave Signs Motorsport will attempt this prestigious production car endurance race as a team, and we are very excited,” said 19 year old Vernon, who is the 2016 MoComm Cup Endurance Champion and also has experience in Formula 4, Formula Ford and the Australian GT Series.”We will be taking our Toyota 86 – supported by Shockwave Signs, Massel, McLaurin Motorsport and Dyno Tuning and Showtell – to the Mountain in the hope of clinching the Class D honours.”While Mark and I have each experienced enduro racing at Bathurst in separate campaigns before, this will be the first time there for our crew and the first time for Mark and I teaming up to tackle Mount Panorama.”The support crew’s first taste of all things enduro at the ADLED Sydney Four Hour in 2016 went very well – we were able to take out Class D in dominating style and also claimed fifth outright – so we are feeling pretty confident as we head to the first round of the 2017 APC season.”The Sydney event saw Mark join us for the first time and learn the ins and outs of how the outfit works, and we are very excited to take advantage of his knowledge as the reigning 2016 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour Class D champion for this year’s campaign.”We feel that our line-up is very strong with a wide array of knowledge, so we think we should be able to bring a strong package to the event.”The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour across April 14-16 is the first round of a six-event calendar for the 2017 Australian Production Cars.
