SETON ON TOP IN BATHURST PRACTICE
GLENN SETON has edged out Steven Johnson and John Bowe to top official practice for the TCM Mountain Masters presented by ENZED Shannons and Rare Spares this morning at Mount Panorama Bathurst.
The Thunder Road Racing Team Australia Ford Mustang driver banged in a 2m19.1594s lap to edge Johnson by 0.18s and Bowe by 0.31s across the pair of 20-minute sessions on a crisp and clear Bathurst Thursday morning.
The results saw two of the top three cars running five-litre power proving it’s not all about straight line performance on the Mountain.
Championship leader Jim Richards was fourth fastest with Eddie Abelnica fifth in his Falcon XB coupe.
Brett Youlden set a strong 2m21.2094s lap in his HQ Monaro to go sixth overall ahead of Andrew Miedecke Mark King Jason Gomersall and 10th placed Andrew Fisher.
Fisher had a solid run in practice using a dry-sumped V8 for the first time in the Jesus Racing Falcon.
The two trouble-free session were run at a quick pace with Seton’s benchmark time just 0.1s away from John Bowe’s TCM qualifying record set last year.
Remarkable speeds down Conrod Straight were also experienced with official timing having Eddie Abelnica’s XB Falcon the quickest – recording a genuine 290km/hr just before the famous Chase kink.
Mark King’s Whiteline Racing Camaro was clocked at 286km/hr in practice one.
Attention will now be turned to qualifying later on Thursday afternoon the 20-minute session to be held at 4:55pm local time and broadcast LIVE on FOX Sports Motorsport – Channel 506.ÂÂ
Meanwhile Network Ten has also confirmed that all three TCM races will be shown within their coverage this weekend.
