DAVIES CLINCHES KUMHO SERIES AS WHITE BREAKS SIMPSONS STREAK

But the Sydney driver was unable to extend his winning streak and claim his 10th consecutive race victory as the experienced Matthew White who finished second in Race 2 earlier in the day slipped past midway through Race 3.

He went on to record his first Kumho Series race win and MW Motorsports first win in the series since Morgan Haber won at Queensland Raceway last year.

“We had an engine problem in practice so we spent more time chasing that than working on setup said White.

“Ryan set the pace but we got there in the end. We had a bit more pace for a change in that final race.

Whites win wasnt enough to stop Simpson from taking his third consecutive round victory and also second in the series a feat even more impressive given he didnt compete in the opening two rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park and Mallala.

“Its a shame I couldnt keep the record going but it was still a great weekend said Simpson who intends to return and compete in the full series in 2014.

501 Performances Tony Evangelou finished third in the final race and for the round overall though he fell just four points short of overhauling Terry Wyhoon for third in the championship final pointscore.

His result was even more impressive given he missed valuable track time during private practice on Friday due to business commitments.

Reigning Australian Formula Ford Champion Jack Le Brocq made his Kumho Series debut and finished fourth for the weekend in the second MW Motorsport entry. He had contact with Davies in Race 2 and finished seventh before claiming fourth in Race 3.

Terry Wyhoon finished sixth for the weekend clear of Matt Chahda who survived a spin in the final race Matt Hansen Steve Briffa and Maurie Pickering.

Television coverage of this weekends Kumho Series round will air on SBS Speedweek on Sunday December 1 and on SPEED on Foxtel at a later date.

Next seasons Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series will begin at Mallala Motorsport Park on April 26/27 2014.
