“We had the speed all weekend said Hunter.

Hunter will be awarded the 2012 Kumho Series Champions Trophy at tonights awards evening in Melbourne.

Tony Evangelou was solid all weekend and finished second in all three races to run second for the round in his CAT-liveried ex-Jason Bright/Ford Performance Racing Falcon while series rookie Morgan Haber finished third for the weekend.

Haber also clinched third in the series behind Hunter and Jim Pollicina and will compete in next weekends final round of the V8 Supercar Development Series at Sydney Olympic Park.

Pollicina was the only driver capable of stopping Hunter from claiming the Kumho Series this weekend but could only muster enough speed from his ex-Jason Richards/Tasman Commodore to finish fourth overall.

Western Australian Matt Hansen finished fifth for the round in his ex-Holden Racing Team Commodore clear of Justin Garioch Bobby Jane Aaron Tebb Michael Hector and Isi Ambrosio.

Overheating problems accounting for Marcus Zukanovics ex-Garth Tander Toll HSV Dealer Team Commodore which failed to finish Race 2 and pulled into pit lane after the warm-up lap of Race 3.

Television coverage of the round will air in upcoming weeks on Speedweek on SBS and Inside SPEED on Foxs SPEED motorsport channel. A dedicated one-hour telecast of the round will also air on SPEED at a later date.

The Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series will return in 2013 with the opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek on March 23-24.
